Arizona Wildcats
One of the biggest obstacles for the Arizona Wildcats will be overcoming the leave of absence Head Coach Lute Olsen is on. While there is no time-table for his return, he is expected back this season. In his place will be assistant coach Kevin O'Neill, an intense leader who will get after his team when they aren't performing up to expectations. When you consider the roster O'Neill has in place, his job shouldn't have to be miracle-worthy.
The Wildcats will rely on two talented veterans and one outstanding freshman. The upper classmen leading the team are Chase Budinger and Jawann McClellan. Their talent, combined with their leadership, will give Arizona a good foundation to face a strong Pac 10, probably one of the best conferences in nation with a number of teams ranked in the Top-25. Joining Budinger and McClellan is Jerryd Bayless, an explosive freshman that will contribute immediately. Another freshman, Jamelle Horne, is expected to see plenty of time in the post area.
If these newcomers can mesh with the established players, the Wildcats will have a formidable starting five, making them a tough match-up for the Pac-10 and the rest of the nation.
