Can Coach Mike Krzyzewski and his Duke Blue Devils bounce back from a moderately disappointing year (by their standards) and get his team back in the hunt for the Final Four? To accomplish this, Coach K will have to address Duke's lack of a proven inside presence. While there are returning players on the Duke roster that do have size and ability, their best hope may reside in two freshmen, the 6-8 Kyle Singler and Taylor King, a 6-6 forward. Both players have a knack for shooting the ball from the perimeter but because of Duke's lack of post strength, they may be asked to help out down low.
Joining these two freshmen is a solid backcourt that features DeMarcus Nelson and Jon Scheyer and point guard Greg Paulus. Coach K needs Paulus to keep progressing if he is to have a successful team. While he showed flashes of brilliance last year, Paulus also made some crucial mistakes as the season wound down. If these three can continue improving, the Blue Devils will have a formidable perimeter attack. Sophomores Brian Zoubek, a 7-1 center and Lance Thomas will be expected to provide some minutes in the paint. If the inside game can match the perimeter in terms of quality play, the Blue Devils will be a tough match-up for most teams.
