Coming off their first Final Four appearance in some time, the Hoyas enter the 2007-08 season as one of the favorite teams to make a return trip and as one of the top teams in the country. When you consider the return of Roy Hibbert, an almost sure lottery pick in the NBA Draft, coupled with the remaining talent on the roster, it’s easy to see why Coach John Thompson III is feeling confident in his squad. His backcourt features two steady guards in Jessie Sapp and senior Jonathan Wallace. Hibbert will also be joined in the paint by DaJuan Summers and Vernon Macklin, giving the Hoyas some really good balance on the floor.

While the absence of Jeff Green (drafted by NBA) could prove difficult to get past, especially in the beginning of the season, there are reasons to believe his loss will not be as much as expected: freshmen Chris Wright and Austin Freeman. Both players are McDonald’s All-Americans guards and will be looked upon to provide a spark from the bench, a luxury many D-1 coaches would do a great deal for.

This is probably the most talented team in Georgetown since JT3’s father patrolled the sidelines and considering last year’s success, many are expecting the Hoyas to appear in the final game of the season: the NCAA Championship game.
