Michigan Wolverines
It's been a long road for the Michigan Wolverine basketball program. From the highs of the Fab 5 to the lows of not making the NCAA tournament since the 97-98 season, fans have seen a number of coaches and players come and go and still, the program hasn't returned to the peaks they reached in late 80s and early 90s. Enter new coach John Beilein from West Virginia. Can Coach Beilein return the Wolverines to back to the top of the Big Ten and make them a national player once again?

Of course, every rebuilding project starts with replenishing the talent level left behind by the previous regime and it looks like Coach Beilein is off to good start in this area with Michigan welcoming freshman Corperryale "Manny" Harris. Harris is Michigan's Mr. Basketball and is expected to come in and provide an immediate impact and play a number of positions. Don't be surprised if Harris is Michigan's leading scorer in 2007-08, even though he is a freshman. Unfortunately, the eye-popping talent for Michigan starts and ends with Harris but that doesn't mean there aren't other quality players on the roster either.

While Manny will be called on to do a lot, the leader of the team is probably Jerret Smith, the returning point guard and lone starter from last year's team. Smith will be asked to be a steadying hand while the rest of Beilein's team tries to get acclimated to a new system. It's a crucial period for Michigan basketball and they will need all the fan support they can get while they are adapting.
