Its hard to know what to expect from a team that struggled last season, especially when they showed improvement the year before. Rumors are Coach Ed DeChellis has to continue improving if he expects to stay in Happy Valley much longer. Fortunately for Coach DeChellis, he does have some players on his team that could prove to be difficult match-ups for opposing Big Ten teams.

Leading the team is Geary Claxton, a senior who averaged 16.3 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. He headlines a group of five players who started at least 21 contests last season. He'll be joined by Jamelle Cornley, giving the Lions a formidable pair of forwards. However, if they want to improve on last season's 2-14 Big Ten record, they will need others to step up. Coach DeChellis is looking for a team-wide effort from his roster and if they can deliver and the new players, led by Talor Battle, he may at least get a return to the NIT.
