Being in a tough conference is never easy for an under-manned team, especially when it's in the Big East. However, Coach Norm Roberts and his St Johns Red Storm do have enough talent to play spoiler. Mason will be manning one of the forward positions while the rest of the frontline will be determined by how well the incoming players adapt. There are a couple of freshman, Ayodele Coker and Justin Burrell, who will push the incumbent starters at center and power forward. The backcourt will be played by Eugene Lawrence and Larry Wright, guards that have shown flashes of being good basketball players. If they can find some consistency, they will make a tough tandem to deal with.
If the new faces can come in and make an immediate impression and if the guards can play well for extended minutes, Mason, Jr. is good enough to turn this team into a serious spoiler, which is exactly what Coach Roberts is thinking.
