Located north of Laclede's Landing in a riverfront industrial area, Al's has been a St. Louis favorite for special occasions since 1925. There's no printed menu for the Italian-inspired cuisine; rather, the waiter displays a tray of steak, veal, rack of lamb, seafood, and other dishes of the day, carefully explaining each. Jackets are required for men, but the establishment is more comfortable than it is elegant.
