Target Center is a multi-use entertainment venue, which is octagonal with 3 levels of seating capable of hosting a wide variety of events ranging from high school and NBA basketball games to full floor ice shows and sold out concerts. The Target Center is a wonderful place to take in all of these events when in downtown Minneapolis. Located in the Warehouse District of Minneapolis, Target Center is easily accessible from multiple streets and is located in the heart of the city.
Target Center opened it doors on October 13, 1990 at the cost of approximately $104,000,000 and took 27 months to complete. From the outside, Target Center looks like a huge complex. From the outside it is, but inside, the arena actually has a very small feel to it. There are not many vantage points where a fan is unable to view the entire court, or main stage of a concert. The Minnesota Timberwolves played their first game here on October 16, 1990 vs. the Philadelphia 76ers.
The 11,000 sq. ft main lobby can accommodate 2,000 people and features one of the largest neon sculptures in the United States. Target Center was the first major arena in the U.S. that was designated completely non-smoking. There are 18,467 theatre-style permanent seats in Target Center.
Concessions
There are over twenty concession stands on two concourse levels that offer a wide variety of dining selections including Italian hoagies, steak sandwiches, and Italian sausages. For a uniquely Minnesota dish, a fried walleye fish sandwich. Fans can also buy fruit and cheese platters and a veggie plate.
Parking
Target Center is located in the Entertainment District of Minneapolis. Located on the northwest side of downtown on First Avenue North, between 6th and 7th Streets and it is easily accessible from every area. There are 11,000 parking spots within a 3 block radius of Target Center. There are 6,000 parking spots attached to the Target Center via the skyway.

Directions
From the North:
Take 35W South to the Washington Avenue Exit
Take 2nd Avenue, then take a left on 5th Street and proceed into the 5th Street Ramp/Garage B.
From the South:
Take 35W North to the Downtown Exits and follow the 5th Avenue Exit
Take a left on either 7th Street or 5th Street and continue to go straight into the corresponding ramp.
From the East:
Take 94 West to the 5th Street Exit
Take 5th Street around the Metrodome and go straight into the 5th Street Ramp/Garage B.
From the West:
Take 394 East and exit directly into Garage A, Garage B or Garage C - these are all connected to Target Center via the skyway.
OR
Take 94 East to the northbound 4th Street Exit
Take right onto 1st Avenue North
Turn right on 5th Street or 7th Street and proceed into the corresponding ramps.
